Dude, Where's my Car

So the same weekend of the wedding, I also had cakes for 2 little boys who are family friends of a lady my mom works with. Dominic and Liam are brothers who turn 3 and 2 this month...God bless their mom Angie ;) I used my car mold from Robert's cake because Angie said the boys LOVEEEE anything and everything cars! Happy birthday boys!

Their license plates were the age they were turning. I couldn't quite fit their names :)

AND A BIGGGGG THANK YOU TO ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS, CHELSEA, WHO WAS A TROOPER WITH ME ALL NIGHT ON FRIDAY TO GET ALL THIS WEEKEND'S CAKES DONE. YOU'RE AWESOME! LOVE YOU!!!

Wedding Weekend!!!!

So when Melissa asked me to do her and Kevin's wedding cake, all I kept thinking was "How in the WORLD am I going to do this!?" They were quite trusting of me :) Melissa is my boyfriend, Jeff's, sister. Their wedding was last night, and it was a blast!! Even amidst the 3 a.m. cake-tastrophe that had me baking a whole new middle tier, and the fact that I had to miss the ceremony because I could only deliver it to the reception hall at that time period, my first wedding cake turned out pretty darn well, and I heard nothing but good things about it. It was a great feeling. I was so nervous that I would hear critiques about the cake, which would have been super awkward since I was at the wedding, but nothing like that happened, thank goodness! :)

Did I mention Melissa asked me to make a surprise groom's cake for Kevin? He plays bass guitar and saxophone, and is quite the music buff from what Melissa told me.

Here's the new Mr. and Mrs. Wright cutting their cake:
It was a wonderful party and celebration last night you two, and I hope you are enjoying the beach this week!! Thanks for trusting me with the cake! :) CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES KEVIN & MELISSA!!!!!

A week Late

Sara, I'm so sorry I haven't posted your cake yet!!!
Sara turned 13 last week and her mom asked me to do a friend cake (the ipod touch) and her family cake (the 13). She said for the family cake that Sara likes green, blue, and purple, and to just roll from there! Sara dances for Seton as well, on the Junior team, so I was more than happy to do the cakes for a Seton dancer :) Hope your birthday was great, miss teenage Sara!!

It's A Girl!!!

So I've mentioned the Vaughns on my blog before...one of the greatest and sweetest little families I know. Well Julie had her baby this past week!! They didn't find out if any of their kids were a boy or a girl, and this one was no different. Karli was born on March 3rd! Maddie and Luke wanted to make a cake for their new brother or sister. They decided on all the colors, designs, flavors, everything. They remembered all the details of what she looked like from when they saw her the night before, and they wanted to recreate her on the cake. Rolling and cutting the fondant was the highlight of their decorating experience. It was so fun watching them make this cake for baby Karli. Maddie even wrote the "it's a girl!" in the bottom corner... I think she did a fantastic job for a second grader! Vaughns, I love you guys, and as always, thanks for letting me be a part of your family! And welcome beautiful baby Karli! Happy Birthday!!

Just a year too late

My cousin Luke has been DYING for me to make him my chocolate cake with chocolate icing. I didn't get to for his birthday last year, so he's been anxiously awaiting since then. Every weekend we were at my grandma's or a family party he would ask me when his cake was coming. So I finally got to do it! Luke is a great musician, especially with drums, performing with multiple bands at his high school. He's super talented! So my aunt asked me to make his cake into a drum. (not my best fondant job, but it turned out nicely.)

HBD "cool hand" Luke!! :)
